Luna - accepting applications
Chiweenie looking for a home!!!
Luna is approximately 15 lbs and will be 4-years-old on November 26. She is a curious and smart girl who learns new things quickly. Luna loves to play fetch with her toys and needs at least one walk every day. She would definitely love a big yard to run around and play in. She is a high energy girl! Come evening, Luna loves to sit and snuggle with her people! Luna is not completely house trained. She was taught to pee only inside on mats, but is learning to save her business for the backyard or for her walks. Luna is now fully kennel trained. She goes in her kennel whenever her foster family goes out, so they know she is safe and not jumping up and off the couch. She sleeps in the kennel at night. |
Luna has not been well socialized with people or animals and will need a home experienced with fearful and anxious dogs and one that is willing to work with her on this. Luna is quite nervous with noises or if someone moves too quickly around her and gets anxious when new people come into the home. She would not do well in a home with children.
Luna really wants to make her people happy and responds to praise and loving physical contact. If you are sitting… she wants to be on your lap. If you think you might be the perfect home for Luna, please fill out an application to adopt!
ADR does NOT home dogs on a first-come, first-serve basis. Each application is looked at carefully to find the best possible match for each dog.

Kevin - adopted!
"Kevin Bacon here. Just here to tell you I'm ready to move in with you.
I'm just a widdle guy and only 4 months old. I'm so playful and fun and just wanna come and live with you and snuggle and play all day. I can't see perfectly and I don't hear well.....I don't know any different so it doesn't bother me. I come with toys and blankets and I only need someone to snuggle me and throw my toys around. Did I also mention how much of a stud I am? In absolutely no way do I want to be a real stud so I will have to be neutered when I grow up a bit, but geesh am I ever a stud. A heartbreaker. A real handsome gem. It's no wonder everyone loves me." If you are interested in applying to adopt Kevin, please carefully read about his needs below: |
1. Living Space: • Ideally a single-family house due to his tendency to bark and separation anxiety. • A duplex could be considered for the right applicant if they can manage his vocal tendencies and anxiety.
2. Companion Animals: • A home with other animals is preferable as Kevin enjoys the company of other dogs and cats.
3. Human Presence: • A family that is home often to reduce Kevin’s separation anxiety. • Willingness to invest time and effort into training to improve his comfort when left alone.
4. Breed Knowledge: • Adopters should understand what a double dapple dachshund is and be aware of potential health concerns specific to the breed (ex. his vision and hearing issues), in addition to common dachshund-related issues.
5. Vaccine Sensitivity: • Understanding of Kevin’s past vaccine reaction, and willingness to accept that he may not be able to be vaccinated. • Awareness of how this could limit him and the potential need for alternative preventative care.
6. Allergies: • Understanding that Kevin may currently have allergies and could develop more in the future, requiring ongoing monitoring and potential treatment.
7. Vision Care and Hearing Loss: • Awareness that Kevin’s vision is likely to worsen over time rather than improve, and readiness to manage this long-term. • Awareness that Kevin is completely deaf, and how to care for a dog with hearing loss.
8. Long-Term Special Needs Care: • Commitment to the long-term care and costs associated with adopting a dog with special needs. • Demonstration of a clear plan and understanding of how they would ensure Kevin is properly cared for (e.g., financially, emotionally, and medically).

Flamingo (mingo) - Adopted!
Our boy Mingo is 2.5 years old and quite the nice little guy. We are watching his personality blossom as we get to know him and seeing him come out of his shell is so fun! Mingo gets along with most things and does well with other dogs and cats.
If Mingo loves you, he REALLY loves you! He gets his whole body into yours for snuggles. Mingo is housetrained and pretty easy going. In the past he has bit and we will be looking for a home that can work on his triggers, although small, and show him the ropes. Mingo would be best in a quiet home with no small children. |

Karl - Adopted!
Karl is a 2-year-old is a fun loving little guy! Karl seems like a very sociable dog. He always wants to meet and sniff everyone. He's very interested in other breed dogs on walks and so far he has been friendly with all that he has met.
Karl loves pets and scratches behind the ears and loves his tummy rubs. He is fully housetrained! Karl loves going for walks and could live outside. He is very interested in the crows and magpies. If he wasn't on a leash he would give chase, so maybe a little bit of prey drive there. Karl would make a good barn hunter as he loves to sniff things outside a lot. |
